Keep Your Dispensing Gun Clean

A dispensing gun can last 1-3 years depending on use and maintenance.

A Vettec adhesive is only valuable if it’s applied correctly, and the proper application starts with your dispensing gun. For the dispensing gun to work at its peak performance, there’s one main thing to keep in mind: keep it clean.

When it comes to cleaning the dispensing gun, users can rub fine-grit sandpaper against the drive rods to remove dirt build-up. The more frequently you do this, the less time it takes each cleaning. Another method to clean your dispensing gun is oiling. Anything that moves on the gun needs to be oiled to keep the mechanisms lubricated and functioning at its best.

How often you clean and maintain your dispensing gun should depend on how often you use it. If it’s in your hand about once a week, scrubbing it once a month should do the trick. If you’re using the gun multiple times a day, a weekly cleaning should become part of your schedule.

Dispensing Gun Storage and Replacement

Like any tool, a dispensing gun will eventually wear out, and in turn, needs replacement. A gun can last anywhere from one- to-three years, depending on the amount of use and how well the owner maintains it. With this in mind, store your dispensing gun in a place where it will not get bent, banged around or suffer from heavy items landing on it. Throwing your gun in the back of a truck after use is bound to increase the potential for damage, and it will not properly dispense adhesive if this is the case. It’s also a good idea to keep the gun in a dry environment and store it away from any access moisture.

Since the adhesive itself is the heart of the application process, it can be easy to forget about the dispensing gun. Give your gun the care it needs to make the dispensing process quick and easy and to make the tool last longer and save money. To view our dispensing guns, click here.
